Description

The Apple II was presented at the first West Coast Computer Faire on April 16, 1977, and went on sale on June 10 of that year. It was among the first mass-produced personal computers to achieve enormous commercial success, with an estimated 5 million units sold overall. The machine featured color graphics, an open architecture with expansion slots, and was chosen as the platform for VisiCalc, the first killer app for the business world. The Apple II is widely considered the computer that launched the personal computer era.
