John Sculley was recruited from PepsiCo by Steve Jobs in 1983 with the famous pitch: "Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to come with me and change the world?" Sculley oversaw Apple during a decade of growth and turmoil, including the launch of the Macintosh, the departure of Steve Jobs in 1985, and the company's expansion into new product categories like the Newton PDA. He was eventually forced out in 1993 as Apple's market share eroded.
