The original Macintosh was launched on January 24, 1984, at a price of $2,495. Conceived in 1979 by Jef Raskin and later reshaped by Steve Jobs, the Macintosh was the first commercially successful personal computer to feature a graphical user interface and a mouse instead of a command line.
