Description

The original Macintosh was launched on January 24, 1984, at a price of $2,495. Conceived in 1979 by Jef Raskin and later reshaped by Steve Jobs, the Macintosh was the first commercially successful personal computer to feature a graphical user interface and a mouse instead of a command line. It popularized concepts like icons, windows, and WYSIWYG printing that are now taken for granted, and together with Apple's LaserWriter printer and Aldus PageMaker, it ignited the desktop publishing revolution.
